Climate Change Levy for Directors and Managers

The Climate Change Levy (CCL) is an additional tax on businesses added to their energy bills intended to address the environmental problems resulting from energy production and consumption, the associated pollution and increase to the average global surface temperature.

This course is aimed at increasing understanding of the new tax and ensuring that senior managers have all of the information that they need to reduce the impact of the tax. This course describes a stepwise method for planning to reduce the impact of the Levy by taking full advantage of discounts, good practice methods, Government grants and tax incentives.

Emissions Trading for Directors and Managers

The UK emissions trading scheme is the world's first economy-wide greenhouse gas emissions trading scheme, which began in March 2002.

This course aims to increase your understanding of the fundamentals of and the potential for emissions trading to minimise the financial effect of the Climate Change Levy. The course covers the important principles of emissions trading, converting energy consumption and calculating emissions, and basic trading rules - including how to use the UK emissions trading system as a financial risk management tool.

Environmental management is the active dealing with environmental issues at an organisational level; it concerns environmental reporting, environmental audits, development of an environmental policy, etc.

IPPC for Directors and Mangers

The Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control (IPPC) directive aims to achieve integrated prevention and control of pollution. It lays down measures designed to prevent, or where that is not practical, reduce emissions to air, land and water, including waste.

This course aims to develop; an appreciation of the way in which IPPC was designed and implemented in the UK, an understanding of the principles of IPPC, and, an understanding of the requirements of IPPC and the process of application under IPPC. It outlines the permitting process and explains the possible the consequences of associated offences.
